The JRE Analytical Paragraph
إزاي تكتب فقرة تحليلية (150-180 كلمة) بطريقة JRE: رأي واضح، سبب، دليل من النص، شرح، وخاتمة.
الدرس ده عن إيه؟
An analytical paragraph answers a question with a clear claim, a reason, evidence from the text, an explanation and a concluding sentence. In this book we build it with JRE: Justify – Reasoning – Evidence.
الدرس ده عن أهم نوع كتابة في كتاب تانية بكالوريا كله: الـ Analytical Paragraph (فقرة تحليلية). يعني إيه؟ يعني حد يسألك سؤال زي «To what extent…?» وإنت ترد بـ رأي واضح، وسبب، ودليل من النص، وتشرح الدليل ده بيثبت كلامك إزاي.
في الكتاب الدرس ده في Unit 1 : Living Well in a Complex World، صفحة Writing: How to Structure an Analytical Paragraph (صفحة 26-27)، وبعدها Writing Task صفحة 32 وSummative Assessment صفحة 36. والكتاب بيطلب الفقرة (150-180) words.
خلي بالك: الطريقة دي (JRE) مش بس للكتابة. الكتاب بيستخدمها في القراءة والـ speaking وأسئلة الجنب في كل الوحدات. يعني لو فهمتها كويس هنا هتنفعك السنة كلها.
يعني إيه JRE؟
J = Justify: take a clear position (your claim). R = Reasoning: explain why. E = Evidence: support it with facts or examples from the text. The book adds + Reflect and Act: think about what this means in real life.
الكتاب بيسمي الطريقة دي JRE+ Inquiry Model. بص عليها كأنك محامي في المحكمة:
| الحرف | بالإنجليزي | يعني إيه بالعربي | سؤال تسأله لنفسك |
|---|---|---|---|
| J | Justify (claim / position) | قول رأيك أو موقفك بوضوح | أنا شايف إيه؟ موافق ولا لأ؟ وبأي درجة؟ |
| R | Reason | السبب: ليه شايف كده؟ | ليه؟ إيه المنطق؟ |
| E | Evidence | الدليل: معلومة، رقم، دراسة، مثال من النص | إيه اللي يثبت كلامي من النص؟ |
| + | Reflect and Act |
The book gives five parts: 1. Topic Sentence (Claim) – 2. Reason – 3. Evidence – 4. Explanation – 5. Concluding Sentence. In a 150-180-word paragraph, you can repeat Evidence + Explanation two or three times.
الكتاب بيقسم الفقرة لخمس جمل أساسية. بس علشان توصل لـ 150-180 كلمة، إنت بتكرر الدليل + الشرح مرتين أو تلاتة، وممكن تضيف رأي معارض (However…) وترد عليه.
| الجزء | وظيفته (English) | يعني إيه بالعربي | مثال قصير (موضوع النوم) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Topic Sentence (Claim) | a clear opinion that answers the question | جملة أولى فيها رأيك وبترد على السؤال مباشرة | Sleep is the most important habit for teenagers' well-being. |
| 2. Reason | explain WHY your claim is right | السبب، وغالبًا بيبدأ بـ This is because | This is because sleep supports both the body and the mind. |
| 3. Evidence | information from the text, examples or facts | دليل من النص: رقم، دراسة، مثال | According to the text, teenagers need eight to ten hours of sleep. |
| 4. Explanation | explain how the evidence supports the claim | تشرح الدليل ده بيثبت كلامك إزاي | This shows that missing sleep can harm concentration and mood. |
| (اختياري) Counter-point | show the other side, then answer it | رأي تاني ورد عليه | However, exercise also matters, since it helps people sleep deeply. |
| 5. Concluding Sentence | restate and strengthen your idea | تأكيد الرأي بكلام مختلف | Therefore, sleep is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. |
الـ Explanation هو أكتر جزء الطلبة بتنساه. ماتحطش الدليل وتمشي! لازم جملة بعده تقول This shows that… / This suggests that… / This indicates that… وتربط الدليل بالرأي بتاعك.

لغة محايدة وحذرة (Neutral and Hedging Language)
Unit 1 asks you to use neutral and hedging language in evidence-based writing. Hedging words (may, might, could, suggest, tend to, likely) show caution. Absolute words (always, never, all, everyone) make a claim sound biased.
الكتاب في Unit 1 بيقول إن الكتابة الأكاديمية لازم تكون دقيقة وحذرة. يعني ماتقولش «كل المراهقين» أو «دايمًا» إلا لو عندك دليل 100%. بدل كده استخدم كلمات الـ hedging (كلمات بتخفف الحكم وبتبين إنك حذر).
| كلام متحيز (Biased / Absolute) | كلام محايد وحذر (Neutral + Hedging) | اتغير إيه؟ |
|---|---|---|
| All teenagers are addicted to their phones. | Many teenagers seem to spend too much time on their phones. | All ← Many، وزودنا seem to |
| Junk food destroys your health. | Junk food may have a negative effect on health. | destroys ← may have a negative effect |
| Exercise always makes people happy. | Research suggests that exercise can improve mood. | always شلناها، وزودنا suggests that + can |
| Social media is the worst thing for teenagers. | Excessive social media use could affect some teenagers' self-esteem. | worst ← could affect some |
- Teenagers who sleep less tend to feel more anxious.tend to = «غالبًا بيميلوا لـ». أهدى من «are always anxious».
- This habit is likely to improve concentration.is likely to = «غالبًا هيـ». احتمال قوي مش أكيد 100%.
- If schools offer counselling, stress levels may fall.الكتاب بيستخدم الـ conditionals للـ hedging: «لو… ممكن…».
- It could be argued that diet is as important as exercise.طريقة مهذبة تقول بيها رأي أو رأي تاني.
القواعد اللي بتخدم الفقرة
Unit 1 grammar helps you write JRE: relative clauses and participial phrases introduce evidence and define key terms, and conditionals add caution.
الكتاب بيربط قواعد الوحدة بالكتابة. حاول تحط في فقرتك واحدة على الأقل من كل نوع:
- Teenagers who exercise regularly tend to sleep more deeply.Relative clause: بتحدد مين بالظبط وبتقدّم الدليل بدقة.
- Mindfulness, which involves paying attention to the present moment, can reduce stress.Relative clause بتعرّف مصطلح (define a key term).
- Teenagers sleeping fewer than seven hours are more likely to report anxiety.Participial phrase: نسخة أقصر من who sleep.
- If teenagers had a regular bedtime routine, they would probably sleep better.Second conditional + probably = تخيل وحذر.
إزاي تكتب الفقرة خطوة بخطوة
- اقرا السؤال كويس وحط خط تحت الكلمة المهمة: To what extent؟ (بأي درجة) / Why؟ / How؟ / Should؟ ده بيحدد شكل الـ claim.
- قرر موقفك في ثانية: موافق جدًا؟ موافق لحد ما؟ مش موافق؟ اختار الأسهل في الدليل، مش الأحلى في الكلام.
- دوّر في النص على دليلين (رقم، دراسة، مثال). علّم عليهم.
- اكتب خطة صغيرة في الهامش: Claim – Reason – Evidence 1 + Explanation – Evidence 2 + Explanation – However – Conclusion.
- اكتب الـ Topic Sentence: رأيك + كلمات من السؤال نفسه.
- كمّل بالـ Reason (This is because…) وبعدين Evidence (According to the text…) وبعدين Explanation (This suggests that…). كرر مرة كمان بـ Furthermore.
- زوّد رأي تاني بـ However ورد عليه في جملة. ده بيبين إنك بتفكر بعمق (critical thinking).
- اختم بـ Therefore / Overall وقول رأيك تاني بكلمات مختلفة.
- راجع: hedging words؟ relative clause؟ عدد الكلمات بين 150 و180؟ إملاء وعلامات ترقيم؟
موديل كامل
ده موديل على سؤال من Writing Task صفحة 27. اقراه الأول بالإنجليزي، وبعدين بص على الشرح تحته.
Sleep is arguably the most important lifestyle factor in supporting teenagers' well-being, although exercise, diet and mindfulness also play a significant role. This is because sleep affects the body and the mind at the same time: without enough rest, the benefits of other healthy habits may be reduced. According to the text, teenagers need between eight and ten hours of sleep per night to support brain development, emotional control and physical recovery. Furthermore, research which was published in the journal Sleep Medicine found that teenagers sleeping fewer than seven hours a night were more likely to report anxiety and depression. This suggests that poor sleep could weaken a young person's mental health even if he or she eats well. However, it can be argued that these factors are connected, since the text also shows that teenagers who exercise regularly tend to sleep more deeply. Therefore, sleep may not work alone, but it seems to be the foundation which allows the other habits to succeed. Overall, if teenagers protect their sleep, their whole well-being is likely to improve.
- Topic Sentence (Claim): أول جملة بترد على «To what extent» بكلمة arguably the most important، وبتعترف إن فيه عوامل تانية (although…). ده رأي واضح ومتوازن.
- Reason: «This is because sleep affects the body and the mind…». النقطتين (:) هنا للـ explanation: بيشرح الجملة اللي قبلها.
- Evidence 1: «According to the text, teenagers need between eight and ten hours…» = معلومة من النص بكلمات الطالب.
- Evidence 2: دراسة Sleep Medicine، ومكتوبة بـ relative clause (research which was published) وparticipial phrase (teenagers sleeping fewer than…). قواعد الوحدة شغالة جوه الدليل.
- Explanation: «This suggests that poor sleep could weaken…» بتربط الدليل بالرأي. وفيها hedging (suggests, could).
- Counter-point: «However, it can be argued that these factors are connected…» رأي تاني مأخوذ من النص برضه، وبعده رد عليه: sleep is the foundation.
- Concluding Sentence: «Overall, if teenagers protect their sleep…» = تأكيد الرأي بـ first conditional + likely.
- Neutral language: مفيش always ولا all ولا never. فيه arguably, may, could, tend to, seems, likely.
- عدد الكلمات: 177 كلمة، يعني جوه المطلوب (150-180).
بص إزاي كل جملة في الموديل بتعمل وظيفة:
- Sleep is arguably the most important lifestyle factor…J (Claim): الرأي + كلمات السؤال (lifestyle factor, well-being).
- This is because sleep affects the body and the mind…R (Reason): ليه؟
- According to the text, teenagers need between eight and ten hours…E (Evidence 1): رقم من النص.
- Furthermore, research which was published… found that…E (Evidence 2): دراسة من النص.
- This suggests that poor sleep could weaken…Explanation: معنى الدليل.
- However, it can be argued that these factors are connected…Counter-point: الرأي التاني.
- Overall, if teenagers protect their sleep…Concluding sentence + لمسة Reflect and Act.
- ✗ بتبدأ بقصة طويلة أو تعريف عام (Since the beginning of time…). ✓ ابدأ بالرأي على طول: Sleep is arguably the most important…
- ✗ رأي من غير دليل: I think sleep is important because it is important. ✓ According to the text, teenagers need eight to ten hours…
- ✗ دليل من غير شرح. ✓ بعد كل دليل: This suggests that…
- ✗ كلام مطلق: All teenagers never sleep. ✓ Many teenagers tend to sleep less than they need.
- سؤال To what extent = لازم درجة: to a great extent / to some extent / arguably the most…
- حط رقمين أو دراستين من النص لو موجودين. الأرقام أقوى دليل.
- جملة However واحدة بتفرق جدًا: بتبين إنك شايف الصورة كاملة.
- اكتب جمل واضحة ومتوسطة الطول. الجملة الطويلة جدًا بتجيب أخطاء.
إزاي بييجي في الأسئلة؟
الأسئلة في الكتاب والمراجعات بتيجي بالأشكال دي:
1) سؤال JRE قصير جنب النص (جملة أو اتنين أو تلاتة): «To what extent is physical activity important for reducing stress? Support your answer with evidence from the text.»
Answer: Physical activity is very important for reducing stress. This is because, according to the text, exercise causes the release of endorphins, which reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. This suggests that even a brisk walk could help teenagers feel calmer.
الشرح: جملة رأي (J) + سبب ودليل من النص (R + E) + جملة شرح (This suggests that). ده JRE مصغّر.
2) Writing Task: فقرة تحليلية (150-180) words بسؤال To what extent / Should / How، زي الموديل اللي فوق.
3) Summative Assessment: الكتاب بيديك Writing Frame (بدايات جمل) وتكملها. مثال على تكملة البدايات:
- The issue of social media's influence on lifestyle is widely discussed today.بداية الموضوع.
- This paragraph examines whether platforms should be held responsible using evidence from the text.إنت هتناقش إيه.
- The text shows that edited images can create unrealistic expectations.دليل.
- This suggests that platforms share some responsibility.شرح.
- However, users can also choose what they follow.رأي تاني.
- Overall, it can be argued that responsibility is shared because both platforms and users make choices.الخلاصة بالسبب.
