Opinion Paragraph
إزاي تكتب فقرة رأي (150-180 كلمة): رأي واضح، أسباب، أمثلة، رأي معارض، وخاتمة، مع قواعد الوحدة.
الدرس ده عن إيه؟
An opinion paragraph is a short piece of writing where you give your opinion about a topic and support it with reasons and examples.
الـ Opinion Paragraph يعني فقرة رأي: حد بيسألك «إنت شايف إيه؟» وإنت تقول رأيك بوضوح، وتدّي أسباب وأمثلة أو أدلة، وتختم بتأكيد رأيك. ده تعريف الكتاب نفسه تقريبًا.
في الكتاب: Unit 2: Leisure Time، صفحة Writing: How to Structure an Opinion Paragraph (صفحة 52)، والـ Summative Assessment صفحة 64، والمطلوب (150-180) words. وفي Unit 4: The Power of Choice الكتاب بيرجع يطلب «write clear opinion paragraphs» ويضيف linking words وfronting وJRE في الكلام عن البراندات وهدر الأكل والتسوق.
الفكرة ببساطة
Opinion → Reason → Example / Evidence → Conclusion. It is like JRE: your opinion is the J, the reason is the R, and the example is the E.
تخيل صاحبك سألك: «الموبايل بيضيع وقت الشباب؟» إنت هترد: «أيوه طبعًا (رأي)، علشان السكرول سهل ومش محتاج مجهود (سبب)، مثلًا المراهقين بيقضوا حوالي 7 ساعات على الشاشات من غير وقت المدرسة (دليل). علشان كده لازم نوازن (خاتمة)». مبروك، إنت كده كتبت Opinion Paragraph بالعربي!
Opinion – Reason – Example – Conclusion. وهي نفس فكرة JRE اللي في الكتاب كله: رأيك = J، السبب = R، المثال = E.
الهيكل زي ما الكتاب بيشرحه
| الجزء | الكتاب بيقول | يعني إيه بالعربي | مثال (موضوع الشاشات) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Opinion (Claim) | State your opinion clearly. | قول رأيك من أول جملة | In my opinion, teenagers spend too much time on screens. |
| 2. Reason | Give a reason to support your opinion. | ليه؟ | This is because scrolling is easy and needs no effort. |
| 3. Example / Evidence | Add an example or explanation. | مثال أو رقم أو شرح | For example, teenagers spend about seven hours a day on screens outside school. |
| (كرر) Reason 2 + Example | — | سبب تاني ومثال تاني علشان توصل للعدد | Moreover, creative hobbies reduce stress… |
| (اختياري) Counter-argument | U2: acknowledge counter-arguments | اعترف برأي تاني ورد عليه | Admittedly, screens help us learn. However, … |
| 4. Conclusion | Restate your opinion in a different way. | قول رأيك تاني بكلام مختلف | In conclusion, young people need a better balance. |
الكتاب بيقول في الخاتمة restate your opinion in a different way: يعني ماتنسخش أول جملة بالحرف. غيّر الكلمات: too much time on screens ← need a better balance between screens and active leisure.
الفرق بين Opinion Paragraph و Analytical Paragraph و Opinion Article
| Opinion paragraph (U2 · U4) | Analytical paragraph (U1) | Opinion article (U4) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| الهدف | رأيك الشخصي بأسباب وأمثلة | تحليل سؤال بدليل من النص | رأيك لمجلة المدرسة |
| الشكل | فقرة واحدة | فقرة واحدة | عنوان + مقدمة + 2 body + concession + خاتمة |
| الصوت | شخصي: I believe / In my opinion | أكاديمي: It can be argued that | شخصي ومقنع |
| الدليل | أمثلة من الحياة أو النص | لازم من النص | أمثلة وأدلة |
يعني الـ opinion paragraph أبسط وأكتر شخصية، بس لسه محتاج سبب ودليل لكل رأي.

القواعد اللي الكتاب بيطلبها جوه الفقرة
In Unit 2 the writing task asks for at least two verbs + gerund, at least two verbs + infinitive and at least one verb whose meaning changes (stop, remember, try). In Unit 4 you can add fronting and the present perfect.
ده مهم جدًا: الكتاب في Unit 2 مش بيقولك «اكتب رأيك» وخلاص، بيقولك استخدم قواعد الوحدة. بص على الأمثلة:
| المطلوب | أفعال مشهورة | مثال في فقرة رأي |
|---|---|---|
| Verb + gerund (-ing) | enjoy, avoid, admit, finish, suggest, practise, keep | Many teenagers avoid going outside after school. |
| Verb + to + infinitive | want, decide, hope, need, plan, refuse, agree | Young people need to find a balance. |
| Verb بيتغير معناه | stop / remember / try | If we stop checking our phones, we will have more free time. |
| (U4) Fronting | As a result, / In Egypt, / Unlike …, | In Egypt, food waste is a serious problem. |
| (U4) Present perfect | have + p.p. (since, for, already, never) | Brands have become part of teenagers' identity. |
- I enjoy drawing because it helps me relax.enjoy + -ing (gerund).
- Teenagers should avoid using their phones before bed.avoid + -ing.
- I have decided to join the school football team.decide + to + infinitive.
- We hope to spend less time online this summer.hope + to + infinitive.
- Stop comparing yourself to others online.stop + -ing = بطّل تعمل الحاجة دي خالص.
- He stopped to buy a drawing book on his way home.stop + to = وقف علشان يعمل حاجة تانية (غرض).
- I remember seeing a documentary about street art.remember + -ing = فاكر حاجة حصلت فعلًا.
- Remember to switch off your phone at ten.remember + to = افتكر تعمل حاجة (لسه هتتعمل).
- Try to set a daily screen-time limit.try + to = حاول (مجهود).
- Try turning off notifications and see what happens.try + -ing = جرّب كتجربة.
إزاي تكتب خطوة بخطوة
- اقرا السؤال وقرر: موافق ولا مش موافق؟ (مثلًا: Do young people spend too much time on screens?).
- اكتب في الهامش: رأيي + سببين + مثال لكل سبب + رأي معارض واحد.
- اكتب قائمة صغيرة بالقواعد المطلوبة (2 gerunds – 2 infinitives – 1 stop/remember/try) علشان ماتنساهاش.
- الجملة الأولى = الرأي: In my opinion, … / I believe that …
- السبب الأول + مثال: This is because … For example, …
- السبب التاني + مثال: Moreover, … According to research, … This means that …
- رأي معارض ورد: Admittedly, … However, …
- الخاتمة: In conclusion, … (نفس الرأي بكلمات مختلفة).
- راجع: القواعد المطلوبة موجودة؟ عدد الكلمات 150-180؟ مفيش semicolon غلط؟
موديل كامل
ده موديل على Writing Task اللي في الكتاب صفحة 52، وفيه القواعد اللي الكتاب طلبها.
In my opinion, young people today spend far too much time on screens and not enough time on creative or physical activities. This is because scrolling is easy and instant, while painting, playing football or learning an instrument requires real effort. For example, research shows that teenagers spend about seven hours a day on screens outside school, yet many of them say they have no time to exercise. Moreover, studies suggest that even thirty minutes of creative activity a day can reduce stress hormones. This means that the hours lost online are not only wasted time but also a missed chance to grow. Admittedly, screens can be useful for learning and keeping in touch with friends. However, I believe that teenagers should try to set clear limits. If they stop checking their phones every few minutes, they will discover how much free time they really have. Personally, I have decided to join the school orchestra, and I have started to enjoy practising every afternoon. In conclusion, young people need to balance their screen time with active and creative leisure.
- Opinion: أول جملة «In my opinion, young people…» رأي واضح وبكلمات السؤال (screens, creative, physical).
- Reason: «This is because scrolling is easy and instant, while…» سبب منطقي فيه مقارنة (while).
- Example / Evidence 1: رقم «about seven hours a day on screens outside school» من تسجيل Unit 2 عن الشاشات.
- Evidence 2: «thirty minutes of creative activity a day can reduce stress hormones» من مقال الـ creative arts. وبعدها This means that… شرح.
- Counter-argument: «Admittedly, screens can be useful… However, …» اعتراف بالرأي التاني ورد عليه.
- Verbs + gerund (2+): keeping (after for)، stop checking، enjoy practising.
- Verbs + infinitive (2+): try to set، decided to join، started to enjoy، need to balance.
- Verb whose meaning changes: stop checking (بطّل خالص) و try to set (حاول).
- Conclusion: «In conclusion, young people need to balance…» نفس الرأي بكلمات مختلفة زي ما الكتاب طالب.
- عدد الكلمات: 179 كلمة (المطلوب 150-180).
- ✗ ماتقولش رأيك غير في الآخر. ✓ رأيك في أول جملة.
- ✗ In my opinion, I think that… (تكرار). ✓ In my opinion, … أو I think that… واحدة بس.
- ✗ أسباب من غير أمثلة. ✓ بعد كل سبب: For example / For instance.
- ✗ I enjoy to draw. ✓ I enjoy drawing.
- ✗ I decided joining the club. ✓ I decided to join the club.
- ✗ الخاتمة نسخة من أول جملة. ✓ Restate in a different way.
- ✗ Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly, Fourthly… في فقرة 150 كلمة. ✓ سببين قويين أحسن من 4 ضعاف.
- اختار الرأي اللي عندك ليه أمثلة أكتر، مش الرأي اللي «أحلى».
- حط القواعد المطلوبة بطريقة طبيعية. مش لازم تعملها bold في الامتحان، بس اتأكد إنها موجودة.
- جملة Admittedly…; however… أو Although… بتبين إنك شايف الرأيين (U2 بيطلب acknowledge counter-arguments).
- في Unit 4 جرّب fronting في جملة الدليل: As a result of clever advertising, teenagers buy more than they need.
إزاي بييجي في الأسئلة؟
الأسئلة في الكتاب والمراجعات بتيجي بالأشكال دي:
1) سؤال رأي قصير (2-3 sentences) زي اللي في Unit 4: «"The more aware we are of how brands shape our thinking, the better our choices become." Do you agree? Write 2-3 sentences giving your opinion with a reason.»
Answer: I strongly agree with this idea. This is because teenagers who understand advertising tricks are less likely to buy a product just to feel that they belong. For example, I have stopped buying expensive trainers only for the logo.
الشرح: رأي (agree) + سبب (This is because) + مثال شخصي بـ present perfect (have stopped buying) وفيه gerund.
2) Writing Task: Opinion paragraph (150-180) words مع شروط قواعد، زي الموديل.
3) Summative Assessment بأسئلة زي «Should young people be held responsible for their own leisure choices, or does society play a greater role?» ومعاها Writing Frame تكمله. مثال تكملة:
- The question of who is responsible for teenagers' leisure choices is widely debated today.البداية.
- I believe that young people are mainly responsible because they choose how to spend their free time.الرأي + السبب.
- One reason is that teenagers can decide to put their phones away.سبب، وفيه decide to.
- For instance, many students enjoy joining clubs when schools offer them.مثال، وفيه enjoy + -ing.
- This means that society also plays a role by giving them options.شرح ورأي تاني.
- In conclusion, I strongly believe that responsibility is shared, but the final choice belongs to the teenager.الخاتمة.
