الدرس ده عن إيه؟

A Personal Development Plan (PDP) helps you identify the skills you want to improve and the actions you will take to achieve your goals.

الـ Personal Development Plan (اختصارها PDP) يعني «خطة تطوير نفسك». إنت بتكتب فيها: أنا عايز أحسّن مهارة إيه؟ ليه المهارة دي مهمة لشغلي في المستقبل؟ وهعمل إيه بالظبط علشان أحسّنها؟

في الكتاب الدرس ده في Unit 8: Pathways to Progress، جزء 8.4 The Skills Employers Really Want، صفحة Writing in Action (صفحة 89-90). الجزء ده بيتكلم عن الـ employability skills (المهارات اللي بتخليك تلاقي شغل وتحافظ عليه) زي communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, leadership. والمطلوب في الكتاب خطة من 150-180 كلمة.

الفكرة ببساطة: «أنا فين؟ عايز أوصل فين؟ وهوصل إزاي؟»

A PDP answers three simple questions: Which skill? Why is it important? How will I develop it?

فكّر فيها زي خطة رجيم أو خطة مذاكرة: مش كفاية تقول «أنا عايز أبقى أحسن». لازم تحدد حاجة واحدة واضحة، وخطوات صغيرة واقعية تعملها كل أسبوع، وتقول المهارة دي هتفيدك إزاي في الشغل.

الفرق بينها وبين الـ blog post عن «My Vocational Dream» إن الـ blog بيحكي عن حلمك، لكن الـ PDP بتركّز على المهارة والخطة: Goal ← Steps ← Future.

عبارات مفيدة (Useful Language)

• I would like to improve my communication skills.بداية بسيطة ومباشرة للـ Introduction: المهارة بالاسم.
• Employers value teamwork because most projects are done in groups.سبب مرتبط بالشغل + connector (because).
• My goal is to give a two-minute presentation without reading from my notes.هدف واقعي وواضح تقدر تقيسه (two minutes / without notes).
• I plan to join the school debate club next term.خطوة عملية بوقت واضح (next term).
• I am currently practising speaking English with my cousin every weekend.Present continuous (قاعدة الوحدة): حاجة بتعملها الفترة دي.
• To achieve this goal, I will ask my teacher for feedback after every presentation.خطوة تانية في الـ Action Plan.
• Therefore, I will be able to explain my ideas clearly to customers.Therefore = علشان كده (نتيجة).
• In addition, problem-solving will help me fix faults quickly at work.In addition = بالإضافة لكده + Future focus.

إزاي تكتب الخطة خطوة بخطوة

1. اختار شغلانة نفسك تشتغلها (مثلًا: solar energy technician, nurse, graphic designer, chef, electrician).
2. اختار مهارة واحدة أو اتنين من الـ employability skills اللي تحتاجها في الشغلانة دي (communication / teamwork / problem-solving / adaptability / time management).
3. Introduction: قول المهارة (I would like to improve…) والشغلانة اللي بتحلم بيها.
4. Goal: اشرح ليه المهارة مهمة (Employers value this skill because…) واكتب هدف واقعي واضح (My goal is to…).
5. Action Plan: اكتب 3 خطوات عملية بأوقات (every week / next term / by June). استخدم I plan to / I will / I intend to.
6. Conclusion: المهارة هتساعدك إزاي في الشغل (This skill will help me…).
7. راجع الـ rubric: connectors اتنين على الأقل؟ فقرات واضحة؟ كلمات عن الشغل والمهارات؟ 150-180 كلمة؟

Why do employers value soft skills as much as technical skills?

J: Employers value soft skills as much as technical skills because both are needed for success. R: Technical skills help people get jobs, while communication, teamwork and adaptability help them solve problems and work effectively with others. E: For example, the unit explains that technical knowledge can be taught relatively quickly, whereas discipline and teamwork take years to develop.
