Discursive Paragraph
A discursive paragraph discusses different ideas or opinions about a topic in a balanced way. It presents one side, then the opposite side using concession clauses, and ends with your own view or a balanced conclusion.
Unit 3: Echoes of the Past، صفحة Writing in Action: Concession Clauses و Writing Task: Discursive Paragraph (صفحة 86-88)، والـ Summative Assessment صفحة 99، والمطلوب about (150-180) words.
In an opinion paragraph you are a lawyer for one side. In a discursive paragraph you are a fair judge: you listen to both sides, then decide.
| Opinion paragraph | Discursive paragraph | |
|---|---|---|

الكتاب بيطلب في القواعد: concession clauses (at least 3) وprepositional phrases. Although / Despite / While it is true that / Admittedly / Even though / It may be argued that.
A concession clause introduces the opposite idea politely before you give your own idea. It shows that you are aware of other viewpoints.

88 (Role – Audience – Purpose).
Many people have different opinions about whether museums are only for tourists or whether they play a deeper role in preserving history and identity. On the one hand, some people believe that museums mainly serve visitors from abroad. Admittedly, crowds of tourists queue at the entrance of the Grand Egyptian Museum daily, and their tickets support the economy. On the other hand, museums protect objects which belong to every Egyptian. Although many of these artefacts are thousands of years old, they still teach us who we are. Despite being a brand-new building, the GEM, which opened to the public on 4 November 2025, is filled with treasures that our ancestors made, and school trips let students stand in front of statues from their textbooks. While it is true that one visit cannot cover every hall, even a short tour shows students thousands of years of their own history. From my perspective, museums are for Egyptians first and tourists second. Overall, a museum is not just a building for visitors; it is a memory that we all share.
