Checkpoint 6 Science — Practice Test 3
A full two-paper practice test in Checkpoint style — 80 marks across a science museum, a Sinai camping trip, the school laboratory, a bicycle ride, a pond and a doctor's clinic — with full solutions and a mark scheme.

Before you start
- This is a full practice test for the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Science test (code 0097), taken at the end of Stage 6. It covers the whole Stage 6 curriculum: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Space, and Thinking and Working Scientifically.
- There are two papers, just like the real test. Each paper lasts 35 minutes and is worth 40 marks (80 marks in total).
- Calculator: the cover of the real Paper 1 says "You may use a calculator". For Paper 2, ask your teacher; the sums in this practice test can all be done without one.
- Equipment: no extra materials are needed. In the real test you answer on the question paper with a black or dark blue pen and use an HB pencil for diagrams and graphs.
- Each question has parts (a), (b), (c)… worth 1 or 2 marks. The number of marks tells you how much to write: 2 marks usually means two separate points.
- You may print the question paper (PDF) and write on paper first if you like, then type your answers in.
- How marking works here: typed short answers (numbers, words, letters and multiple-choice) are checked automatically. For answers you write in sentences, you mark yourself with the mark scheme shown after you finish — be honest and strict, like a real examiner.
- Your score here is a practice score to help you find your strong and weak topics. It is not an official Cambridge result.
After the test
- Go through every question you lost marks on. Read the full solution and write the correct answer in your own words.
- For written answers, compare your words with the mark scheme: did you give two points for a 2-mark question? Did you use the key science words (artery, refraction, upthrust, solidification…)?
- Make a list of your weak topics and revisit those lessons. Investigation questions (Paper 1 Question 4, Paper 2 Questions 5 and 10): Thinking and Working Scientifically: Investigations, Variables, Tables and Graphs.
- Biology (Paper 1 Questions 1–3, Paper 2 Question 4): The Heart and Circulatory System; The Lungs and Respiratory System; Diseases, Hygiene and the Body's Defences; Food Chains, Food Webs, Energy and Toxins.
- Chemistry (Paper 1 Question 4, Paper 2 Questions 1, 2, 5 and 7): Properties of Substances: Melting and Boiling Points, Gases, Conductors; Reversible Changes and Dissolving; Boiling and Evaporation; Chemical Reactions: Reactants, Products and Evidence.
- Physics (Paper 1 Questions 6–7, Paper 2 Questions 6, 8 and 9): Force Diagrams and Forces on Moving Objects; Light: Reflection and Refraction; Electric Circuits, Symbols, Series and Parallel; Mass, Weight and Gravity; Floating and Sinking.
- Earth and Space (Paper 1 Questions 5 and 8, Paper 2 Questions 3 and 10): The Solar System and the Phases of the Moon; Rocks and Fossils; The Rock Cycle; Types of Soil.
- Wait a few days, then try the test again without looking at the solutions, or move on to Practice Tests 1 and 2.
