Checkpoint 6 Science — Practice Test 1
A full timed Checkpoint-style Science test — two 35-minute papers worth 40 marks each — set in a school garden, on the Red Sea coast and on a fossil hunt in the Western Desert, with automatic marking, a mark scheme and full worked solutions.

Before you start
- This is a full practice test in the style of the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Science (0097) test taken at the end of Stage 6. It covers the whole Stage 6 curriculum: biology, chemistry, physics, Earth and space, and thinking and working scientifically.
- There are two papers. Each paper lasts 35 minutes and is worth 40 marks (80 marks in total). The timer starts when you press Start.
- Calculator: the cover of the real Paper 1 says "You may use a calculator", so a calculator is allowed in Paper 1. For Paper 2, follow what your teacher or the paper says — the calculations in this test are simple enough to do by hand.
- Equipment: a black or dark blue pen, an HB pencil for diagrams and graphs, and a calculator. In the real test you write your answers and working on the question paper, and no additional materials are needed.
- You can write your answers on paper first if you like — download the question paper (PDF) and do the test the real way, then type your answers in or mark them with the mark scheme (PDF).
- How marking works here: typed answers (numbers, short words and multiple choice) are checked automatically. Written answers (explanations, descriptions) you mark yourself at the end: compare your answer with the mark scheme and give yourself the marks you have really earned.
- Look at the marks for each part: [2] means two separate points. Give units (g, N, °C, s) with your numbers.
- Your score is a practice score to show you what to revise. It is not an official Cambridge result.
- Check every wrong answer. Read the worked solution, then cover it and do the question again on paper until you can explain it yourself.
- Mark your written answers strictly. A mark is given only for a point that matches the mark scheme. Two points are needed for 2 marks.
- Sort your mistakes: was it a fact you did not know, a misread question, a missing unit, or a graph/table you read wrongly? Exam technique mistakes are the quickest to fix.
- Revisit the lessons: food webs and toxins → *Food Chains, Food Webs, Energy and Toxins*; heart, blood vessels and lungs → *The Heart and Circulatory System* and *The Lungs and Respiratory System*; disease and hygiene → *Diseases, Hygiene and the Body's Defences*; puberty → *Human Reproductive System and Puberty*.
- Chemistry → *Properties of Substances: Melting and Boiling Points, Gases, Conductors*, *Reversible Changes and Dissolving*, *Boiling and Evaporation*, *Chemical Reactions: Reactants, Products and Evidence*.
- Physics → *Mass, Weight and Gravity*, *Force Diagrams and Forces on Moving Objects*, *Floating and Sinking*, *Light: Reflection and Refraction*, *Electric Circuits, Symbols, Series and Parallel*.
- Earth and space → *Rocks and Fossils*, *Types of Soil*, *The Rock Cycle*, *The Solar System and the Phases of the Moon*. Investigation questions (variables, anomalous results, means, conclusions, improving a method) → *Thinking and Working Scientifically: Investigations, Variables, Tables and Graphs*.
- When you are ready, try Practice Test 2 under timed conditions and compare your scores.
