Before you start
This is a full, original practice version of the Digital SAT Reading and Writing section by Mohamed Abdelkriem. It has the same shape as the real section: two modules of 27 questions, 32 minutes each, and every question has one short passage (or a pair of short passages) and four answer choices. Some passages include a small table.
| Part | Questions | Time | In this practice test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Module 1 | 27 | 32 minutes | Mixed difficulty: easy, medium and hard questions |
| Module 2 | 27 | 32 minutes | The harder version of Module 2 |
| Total | 54 | 64 minutes | All 54 questions count toward your practice score |
How the real test differs: in each real module, 2 of the 27 questions are unscored pretest questions (25 count), and you cannot tell which ones they are, so treat every question seriously. On test day, your performance on Module 1 decides whether you get a harder or an easier Module 2. Here, Module 2 is always the harder version, so a good score on it is a strong sign you are ready.
- Sit somewhere quiet with no phone, music or notes. Use the built-in timer and do not pause it.
- Do Module 1 in one sitting (32 minutes), then Module 2 (32 minutes). In the real test you cannot go back to Module 1 once Module 2 starts, so do not go back here either.
- Inside a module you may skip and come back, just as you can mark questions for review in the real test. Aim for about 1 minute 10 seconds per question.
- Answer every question — there is no penalty for a wrong answer. If you are stuck, eliminate what you can and guess.
- Your result is shown as a practice percentage, with results by skill. It is not an official SAT scaled score (200–800).
- Read the explanation for EVERY question — including the ones you got right. A lucky guess is not a skill yet.
- For each mistake, write down the skill tag and the trap you fell for (reversed meaning, too extreme, half-right, comma splice, nearest-noun agreement, and so on).
- List your two or three weakest skills from the results by skill, and go back to the matching lessons: Words in Context; Text Structure and Purpose; Cross-Text Connections; Central Ideas and Details; Command of Evidence: Textual; Command of Evidence: Quantitative; Inferences.
- For grammar mistakes, review Sentence Boundaries; Commas and Extra Information; Colons, Dashes and Semicolons; Subject–Verb Agreement; Pronouns; Verb Tense, Aspect and Finiteness; Modifiers, Parallel Structure and Comparisons; Plurals and Possessives. For the last questions of each module, review Transitions and Rhetorical Synthesis.
- If you ran out of time, reread Time Strategy and How to Attack Every Question. Then wait a few days and take Practice Test 3 under the same timed conditions.
