Before you start
- What this is: a complete practice test in the style of the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Mathematics test (0096), which tests what you know at the end of Stage 6. Every question is new. The contexts are a supermarket, a cinema timetable, bus journeys, tile designs, a class survey of pets and a koshari recipe.
- Two papers, like the real test: Paper 1 — 45 minutes, 40 marks, no calculator. Paper 2 — 45 minutes, 40 marks, calculator allowed. That is 80 marks in total. The timer here runs for 45 minutes for each paper.
- Equipment: the real paper covers list compasses and a protractor (tracing paper is optional). Write in black or dark blue pen and use an HB pencil for diagrams. Have a ruler, compasses and some squared paper ready for the drawing questions in this test, and a calculator for Paper 2 only.
- Write on paper first if you like. You can also print the question paper (PDF link above the questions), do it like a real exam, then type in your answers. In the real test you answer on the question paper and show all your working there.
- Look at the marks: most questions are worth 1 mark. A 2-mark question that says "Show your working" can earn 1 mark for a correct method even if the final answer is wrong — so always write your working.
- How to type answers: numbers only (for example 46.75 or 1 5/12); fractions with a slash, like 3/4; coordinates like (−3, −2); ratios like 3:2; times like 07:24.
- How marking works here: answers you type or choose are checked automatically. Drawings and written explanations are marked by you: when you finish a paper, compare your answer with the mark scheme shown and give yourself only the marks you really earned.
- Your score is a practice score only. It shows your strengths and weaknesses; it is not an official Cambridge result.
- Mark honestly. For each drawing or explanation, find the marking points in the mark scheme. Give the mark only if your answer says the same mathematics, even in different words.
- Make a mistakes list. For every lost mark write the question number, the topic and why you lost it: did not know it / misread the question / calculation slip / no working on a 2-mark question / forgot units or the remainder.

- Then try again: redo every question you lost marks on, without looking at the solution, a few days later. When you are ready, take another practice test under timed conditions.
